About the event
On Saturday 26th August the Killester Garden Village Committee will host a Centenary Community Day at the Middle Third green in Killester. This will be a community celebration to mark the centenary of the completion of the orignal Killester Garden Village in 1923, the largest Irish WW1 ex-servicemen housing estate on the island of Ireland with 289 houses, or 'Homes for Heroes'.
We will have a street party on the green and we are encouraging all residents to come along and bring food, refreshments, tables and chairs. There will be live music from a pipe band and brass band, an ice cream van, outdoor library, WW1 histotical displays, Community Gardaí, Civil Defence, and the main event being the launch of the Killester Garden Village Book!
The Killester Garden Village Book will be launched by a VIP, alongside its two main researchers Mr Michael Nugent and Mr Nigel Henderson, afterwards there will be a Q and A in the Killester Sports and Social Club.
Please get invovled and get in touch for a special day for the community of Killester. If you are a local buisness and would like to sponsor or get invovled please do get in touch.
